Head Coach
BRIAN PETERS
The Marlins are excited to announce Brian Peters, or Coach Petey to our team as head coach.
The local baseball legend comes with a lengthy baseball resume which includes not only time as a player, but also as a coach, an umpire and an advocate for the accessibility for the sport for all youth.
A little about Coach Petey:
I was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, I have been deeply involved in baseball across the province since I was 16. After graduating from Mount Royal High School in 1974, my baseball journey took me to cities including Phoenix, Arizona; Vancouver, BC; Medicine Hat; Red Deer; and Edmonton, Alberta.
I am a Level Three certified umpire and have proudly coached minor baseball in the Saskatoon Blue Jays and Cardinals zones.
My passion for the game extended into public announcing as the voice of the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets and into leadership roles as an assistant coach for the U18 AAA Saskatoon Giants during the 2023–2024 seasons, including their 2024 Provincial Championship run.
A longtime contributor to local baseball, I co-founded and instructed at the Inner-City Summer Baseball Camps from 2008 to 2010.
As a player, I was named the Twilight Baseball Player of the Year in 2019 and played on three Provincial Masters Champion teams with the Riverhurst Thumpers (2005–2008). I was inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame in 2023 as a player and again in 2025 with the Riverhurst Thumpers in the Team category.
I’ve been playing and coaching in the Saskatoon Men’s Baseball League on and off since 1984 and currently serve on the league executive, continuing my lifelong dedication to the sport.
Welcome to the team, Coach Petey!

Assitant Coach
TREVOR KLASSEN
The Marlins have a new assistant coach, who brings knowledge and experience to the pitchers. Already, Coach Trevor has cemented himself as a rock for the team.
A little about Coach Trevor:
A graduate of Bedford Road High School and a two sport athlete in Baseball and Hockey. After high school Trevor played baseball for one year at Minot State University-Bottineau(NJCAA). He continued his student athlete career at NCAA Division 1 Alcorn State University. After completing his degree at ASU, he landed in the Independent Leagues first signing a contract with the Texas Heat and then finished his career with the Texarkana Gunslingers in the Continental Baseball League.
Trevor is married to his beautiful wife Karissa, they have a daughter named Miller and are expecting another shithead in October. He is currently a Locomotive Engineer and has been with Canadian National Railway for 13 years. His passions outside of baseball include the gym and cars.
From Trevor: Baseball has given me so much, it really is my life and I realize that each time I step on the field with the boys. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the Marlins and look forward to winning some ball games in 2025.
Welcome to the Marlin family, Coach Trevor

Assitant Coach
Maddix Mathies
The Marlins are excited to welcome Maddix back to the Saskfive bench.
Maddix grew up in Martensville, playing baseball and hockey. He was a member of the Saskfive Giants baseball club. In his final year with the Saskfive Giants 18UAAA club, he won MVP at the Stampede Showdown at Webber Academy and was picked up to travel to Nationals with the East Central Red Sox. The talented southpaw is now pursuing his studies at the U of S in biomedical science. In summers, he spends his time working, golfing or playing senior baseball.
Maddix made an impact on the boys in his years as a player with the 18U club, with his infectious personality and team leadership. We are thrilled to welcome him back to our Marlins' family as an assistant coach.
