Born and raised in Melfort, SK, a
a big fastball town, grew up playing that until he was 18, winning a Silver medal at 1988 SK Summer Games as well as giving the Athletes Oath at the Opening Ceremony. -
at 19, started playing baseball and pitching at age 20. Won 2 Pitcher of the Year Awards and 2 MVP’s but could never knock off Marysburg in League Final.

played last 2 years of senior baseball in Saskatoon Senior League winning League Championship 1 year.

got picked up by Regina team 3 times and all 3 times won Westerns.

started coaching in 1997 as a Player/Coach then later coached his 3 children Payton, Preston and Paisley to various League and Provincial Championships.
Most recently the Saskatoon Giants in 2024.

MENTAL PERFORMANCE COACH
BRIAN PETERS
Coach Petey is a Certified Mental Performance Coach with over 50 years of experience in baseball as a player, coach, umpire, and mentor. He is a proud inductee of the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame (SBHOF) and has dedicated his post-retirement work to developing the mental side of performance in young athletes.
He works primarily with U13-18 players, along with their parents and coaches, focusing on what separates average from elite: composure under pressure, resilient confidence, and consistent execution. His approach blends real dugout experience with proven mental performance systems, helping athletes respond with purpose instead of reacting emotionally.
Coach Petey’s coaching philosophy is built on simple, repeatable standards:

Momentum belongs to the team that responds.
His mission is clear: give back to the game by helping the next generation grow mentally, emotionally, and competitively.
Coach Petey previously served as Head Coach of the 2025 Marlins. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Coach with the U18 AAA Saskatoon Giants (2023–2024), helping lead the team to a Provincial Championship in 2024.
Off the field, Coach Petey is a proud father of seven and grandfather of nine. His commitment to mentorship extends beyond baseball, as he strives to be the role model he once needed.
He is also the author of the upcoming book:
Mental Toughness for Young Baseball Players: A Practical Mental Performance Guide for Ages 13–18.
